Here begins the cronicles of the 92 Cabby EV conversion. We bough this beauty for $1700 with the sole goal of making her one
hot and fun to drive EV.
Her story began in 1992, and her history wasn't all that exciting. She has 125k miles on her and drives very well. She has
been hit in the front passenger side, and has aftermarket hood and passenger fender shabbily installed. We will fix that.
Other than that she is mechanically sound. People tell us we are nuts to convert her. We shall see. When she is done you can
be the judge.
Her new life begins in the late summer of '06, where she will be totally redone including
- new upgraded brakes and upgraded suspension to handle addtional weight of batteries (about 1000 pounds extra)
- redesigned interior
- new wheels and tires
- a 120v DC electric drivetrain with 20 6v batteries
- new body parts and paint
We will do our best to keep you all updated as to her progress.
The picture to the right is what she looked like right after we got her, and hadn't done much yet except what was necessary
to get her to pass safety inspection.
